Welcome to The Best Cellar Restaurant - Linville, NC
The Best Cellar Restaurant was established in 1975. The original location was in a basement on Main Street in Blowing Rock, where previous owners sold soups, sandwiches and new and used books. The name was derived from the fact that the restaurant sold books in a basement, hence The Best Cellar.
In 1980, the restaurant found a home in a 75-year-old log cabin, just outside the downtown area of Historic Blowing Rock. The cabin provided a rustic charm that has welcomed visitors for years. Currently, The Best Cellar is thriving at The Inn at Ragged Gardens, the premiere place to stay in Blowing Rock.
The Best Cellar prides itself on providing its customers with the finest of food, wine, and service for 30 years. All dishes, including bread and desserts, are prepared each day on site. Many of our dishes have been favorites for years, but we always have daily specials to satisfy those customers looking for something new.
Like our sister restaurant in Blowing Rock, NC, our master chefs will tantalize your palate with tempting creations that are as much a work of art as they are a meal. Our “standard” menu is a gourmet delight with steaks, seafood, duck, veal and lamb dishes that will leave a memory on your taste buds for a long time to come. Our mountain trout and market special seafood choices would be the envy of any seashore restaurant. Our wine cellar has a reputation all of it’s own, and our wine steward can help you pick the perfect vintage to enhance your dining selection.
Of course, the ultimate dining experience would only be complete with the right atmosphere. Both of our downstairs dining rooms feature huge rock fireplaces, linen tablecloths, and an experienced wait staff to cater to your every whim. For more casual dining, we have a veranda outside overlooking a gentle wooded stream. You may also choose to enjoy our “lighter side” bar menu and dine in a booth, served by the friendliest bartender you have ever met. Parties of up to twelve may wish to experience the quiet seclusion of dining in our “wine cellar” upstairs. Whatever your mood, we can accommodate you. At lunch, try one of our delicious sandwiches, soups or salads or our ever popular “Meat and Three” where you build your own platter from daily choices.
We can accommodate small to medium numbers for parties, banquets and receptions. Please call in advance and talk with our event coordinator who will suggest the best way to meet your needs. We suggest advance reservations for all dining, but will be happy to accommodate you on a space available basis if you just drop by. Come try us, and make a memory that will last a long, long time.
